In this vibrant Art Snak, we dive into the rich world of orange—a color full of expressive potential. Whether bold or soft, dark or light, oranges can bring warmth and complexity to your abstract paintings.
Using your art journal, you’ll explore how to mix, modify, and build with orange—one of the most versatile colors in your palette. This is a relaxed, hands-on class designed to spark fresh insight and deepen your color intuition.
Part I – Mixing Oranges Start with reds and yellows you already have to mix a variety of oranges.
Part II – Value Studies See how light, dark, and complementary colors shift the feel of orange.
Part III – Building Paintings Create abstract compositions using your mixed orange.
Part IV – Landscape with Underpainting Use yellow as a base layer and build orange layers to create a simple ombre landscape.
Part V – Simple Oranges Work with pre-mixed oranges and experiment with subtle shifts.This session is ideal for abstract and mixed media artists of all levels who want to experiment, play, and better understand the emotional and visual power of color.
