Art Snak: Paint to Paper to Collage

Turn leftover paint into beautiful collage papers and explore playful collage experiments in your art journal.

In this Art Snak, we transform the leftover paint from a painting session into a collection of unique painted papers that can be used for collage. Instead of letting paint dry on the palette or go to waste, you’ll create a library of color, texture, and marks that can spark new ideas and compositions.

Working in your art journal, you’ll use these painted papers to explore a series of simple collage challenges designed to encourage experimentation, composition, and intuitive play. Some exercises offer a bit of structure, while others invite you to respond freely and see what emerges.

As with all Art Snaks, you’ll work in your art journal in a stress free, playful way designed to keep your creative practice moving without pressure or expectations.

Create a collage composition using mostly neutral colors to explore subtle variation, quiet balance, and restrained palettes.

Part V – Intuitive Collage Play
Let go of structure and use your painted papers to create four small abstract collages in your journal, responding intuitively to color, shape, and placement.

You’ll also receive additional collage prompts so you can continue experimenting in your journal whenever you have painted papers ready to use.
